Every rat is a card. Every card has teeth.
Card duels play out on a three-by-three board. Each rat card has a number on all four sides: place it next to a rival's rat and, if your side is higher, that rat switches to your colour. When the board is full, whoever holds more rats wins the duel.
Three elements
Mutant beats Radioactive, Radioactive beats Mechanical, Mechanical beats Mutant. The weaker rat loses a point on every side before the numbers are compared.
Dirty tricks
Super Cheese makes one of your rats stronger, a Rat Trap waits on an empty square, the Taser freezes a rival rat, and Fog hides your numbers. One per turn.
Evolve something dangerous
Level a rat up, roll it into the evolution chamber and watch it come out as something new: new art, new numbers, new problems. Snifire dreams of being a dragon. Give it time.
Meet the rats
Every rat is hand-drawn, rigged and alive: they blink, gloat, sulk and attack. The full game has 177 of them to collect. A few residents of Floor 1:
Ratus
The basic rat, found behind some furniture and caught with a piece of cheese.
Snot
But but but… give him a tissue, for pity's sake!
Frart
Terrible for both himself and his enemies, Frart is not afraid to let go. Seriously.
Ratpox
This rat with purulent pustules can be very dangerous at short or long range…
Indiarat
Indiarat spends his time playing with his tail!
Ratllop
Trains very hard to become the heavyweight champion of the Academy.
Scrate
Students use Scrates to dig tunnels under the school. One may have reached the other side of the world.
Snifire

Walk in as you
Before the first duel, build the student who walks into the lab with the character creator: build, face, hair, outfit and accessories, drawn in the same style as the rats. Igor will still get your name wrong.
Labanoir Academy
Five floors of rival students, each with a champion at the top of the stairs. Floor 1, The Arrival, opens in the Closed Beta. The other doors stay sealed until launch, and something behind them keeps knocking.

The Closed Beta
The first Closed Beta opens the lab to a small group of invited testers:
- the opening and the character creator
- Igor's teaching duel
- Floor 1 and its rivals
- the evolution lab
Anyone can download the Laboratz Launcher for Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit): it installs, updates and starts the Beta. Your invite code is what opens the doors. Invitations go out through the official community channels.
Test builds are not code-signed yet, so Windows may show a SmartScreen notice the first time. Download the launcher only from laboratz.com.

What is Laboratz?
Laboratz is a tactical card battler for Windows PC. You collect mutant rats, place them on a three-by-three board and capture your rivals' rats by beating their numbers and elements. Between duels you level your rats up and evolve them in the lab.
How do the card duels work?
Each rat card has a number on its four sides. Place a rat next to a rival's rat: if your facing side is higher, the rival's rat becomes yours. Elements (Mutant, Radioactive, Mechanical) and dirty tricks change the maths. When the board is full, whoever holds more rats wins.
How many rats are there?
The full game has 177 rats to collect, neutral or of one of the three elements, and many of them evolve into new forms. The Closed Beta includes the rats of Floor 1 and the fire dragon line from Snifire to Rapalm.
Is there online multiplayer?
Online duels against other players are in development, on dedicated servers that decide every result. They are not part of the Closed Beta.
When does Laboratz come out, and on which platforms?
Laboratz is in development for Windows PC, and its Steam page is coming soon. No release date has been announced.
How do I join the Closed Beta?
Download the Laboratz Launcher from this site; anyone can install it. The Beta itself is invite-only: enter the invite code you received through the official community channels and the launcher lets you in.
Which languages does Laboratz support?
The game's interface is in English, Spanish and Arabic.
